FedEx Philippines Managing Director Maribeth Espinosa explains the importance of integrated logistics solutions for global expansion.

International trade is a challenging aspect of business that many entrepreneurs struggle with, to the point that it deters businesses from expanding globally. This is a particular challenge that the Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) hopes to address through its integrated logistics solutions, especially for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

“Across industries, small and medium enterprises face a common challenge: ensuring that their products reach the right markets at the right time without getting bogged down by logistical complexities,” FedEx Philippines Managing Director Maribeth Espinosa said. “From customs regulations to delivery coordination, managing these moving parts can detract from core business goals.”

With the belief that businesses must be equipped with the right tools and knowledge of international trade, FedEx hopes that its integrated logistics solutions can help Filipino SMEs scale with confidence in an increasingly competitive global market.

Why SMEs should invest in integrated logistics solutions

For Espinosa, integrated logistics solutions “are designed to help streamline processes, improve visibility, and reduce operational barriers, enabling businesses to focus on growth rather than being caught up in supply chain complexities.”

“With the right technology, Filipino businesses can simplify shipping, clear customs faster, track shipments in real-time, and use AI insights to stay ahead,” she said. “These innovations not only streamline operations but also give SMEs the confidence to grow and compete on a global scale.”

Citing Trina Louisse Evangelista, the founder of shoe brand Triloueva, as an example, Espinosa pointed out that “Navigating international logistics was once a daunting challenge for her business.” She emphasized the need for SMEs to embrace integrated logistics in order to make processes like managing shipments, ensuring timely deliveries, and optimizing costs less complex.

“Filipino entrepreneurs must recognize that investing in smarter, technology-driven logistics strategies is no longer just advantageous—it’s a necessity,” Espinosa pointed out. “By integrating these solutions into their operations, businesses won’t just keep up with the competition; they’ll gain the edge to thrive in the global market, opening doors to new opportunities for growth and expansion.”

Aligning with global sustainability standards

Espinosa expressed her delight in seeing Filipino SMEs across different industries expand and bring their products to the global stage. However, she stressed the importance of adopting integrated logistics solutions that align with global sustainability standards.

“Advanced tools such as real-time tracking, AI-powered shipping analytics, and carbon footprint monitoring enable businesses to streamline shipments, enhance efficiency, and reduce environmental impact—allowing them to scale responsibly while meeting the demands of international markets,” she said.
