FedEx Launches New Digital Tool to Simplify the Import Process for Customers

FedEx is tackling the challenges businesses face with importation through its newly launched tool.
Express transportation company FedEx has announced the launch of a digital tool called the Collaborative Shipping Tool. This tool aims to make the import process simpler and more efficient for customers by enabling seamless collaboration during Airway Bill (AWB) creation between importers and shippers.
“The Philippines is a key market for FedEx, and we are committed to supporting businesses here with innovative solutions that address their unique challenges,” said FedEx Philippines Managing Editor Maribeth Espinosa.
“The Collaborative Shipping Tool is a game-changer for importers, offering greater transparency, efficiency, and control over their supply chains,” she added.
Addressing Challenges Faced by Importers
According to a study by the International Trade Centre, failed pickups and a lack of shipment visibility are the top challenges faced by importers worldwide. These have a direct impact on business operations and highlight the need for effective solutions.
FedEx’s Collaborative Shipping Tool seeks to improve the success rate of shipment pickups by allowing importers to share the AWB creation process directly with shippers. Doing so enables them to confirm shipment details and schedule pickups based on their readiness.
Key Benefits of Using the Collaborative Shipping Tool
The Collaborative Shipping Tool offers seamless collaboration and greater flexibility, allowing package details to be confirmed or edited and pickup dates to be scheduled based on availability.
It also offers importers improved visibility as they gain real-time insights into the pickup process. Lastly, the Collaborative Shipping Tool is designed to be simple and intuitive, which simplifies the whole process for both importers and shippers.
The Collaborative Shipping Tool is available to all FedEx import customers in the Asia Pacific, Europe, United States, Canada, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa. It is also meant to complement FedEx’s other digital solutions, such as the FedEx Import Tool, which has not yet been launched in the Philippines.
However, once it is launched, the FedEx Import Tool will provide a comprehensive suite of options to simplify and manage import shipments. Together, these innovations demonstrate FedEx’s commitment to improving the import experience and overall logistics efficiency for customers.
