Interested energy startups and entrepreneurs have until June 28, 2024, to sign up for the accelerator program 

Through the years, accelerator programs have helped startups and entrepreneurs launch, scale, and grow into successful enterprises. One such program is Shell LiveWIRE. 

Shell LiveWIRE, Shell’s flagship enterprise development program, has created 1,384 businesses with 2,686 participants around the world since its launch. With the vision to strengthen local economies by promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and meaningful employment, the company has announced that the Shell LiveWIRE 2024 Acceleration Program is now open for applications. 

This year’s program, which focuses on “Purposeful Progress Through Energy That Empowers,” has been accepting applications since April 2. The deadline for applications has been set on June 28, 2024. The acceleration program itself will run from July through October 2024. 

Last year, Mindoro Island-based social climate fintech startup Farmvocacy was hailed the grand winner of Shell LiveWIRE 2023. Industrial and feed-grade mineral producer LITHOS Manufacturing OPC, a producer and motorcycle and tech startup Lycan Motorcycles were declared as runners-up. 

Does Your Startup Qualify? 

Startups and entrepreneurs interested to apply for the Shell LiveWIRE 2024 Acceleration Program must meet the following criteria:

• Energy sector focused, particularly those involved in the following areas
  • Access to energy
  • Clean energy
  • Off-grid solutions, energy distribution, last mile distribution
  • Energy efficiency
  • Low-carbon transport solutions and/or transport sharing models
• With a working Minimum Viable Product and demonstrate initial market traction
• Majority ownership should be held by Filipino individuals or entities
• At least one (1) full-time Filipino founder
• Received not more than $100,000 (approximately PHP 5.78 million) in external funding
• Must have their business registered or be able to register within three months upon application, and have the capability to issue an Official Receipt

How the Shell LiveWIRE 2024 Acceleration Program Will Run

Selected startups from the pool of applicants will go through a three-month program. During these months, startups will receive mentorship from industry practitioners and experts. It should be noted that this is a remote program, which means mentoring sessions will be conducted online. 

The Top 3 Innovators will eventually be chosen. Those selected will receive the opportunity to be integrated into the Shell Value Chain. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the three top startups. The two runner-ups will be awarded PHP 500,000 each. 

The grand winner, on the other hand, will be awarded PHP 1,000,000.
