Vogue Philippines Names Archie Carrasco as Publisher
Carrasco’s move to launch Vogue Philippines during the pandemic re-energized the industry, and introduced the best of Filipino culture to the rest of the world.
Media Mogul Archie Carrasco has been appointed publisher of Vogue Philippines. The development brings in a decisive new phase for the publication, as it strives to magnify Filipino talent and culture to the world stage.
Carrasco launched Vogue Philippines in the midst of a global pandemic in 2022 at a time when most publications worldwide, were shifting to digital. Yet Vogue Philippines’ entry into the local publishing industry, marked a milestone that not only showcased Filipino talent and creativity on the global arena, but also reinvigorated the local media industry at a critical period. “Many claim print is dead, but I believe print is only dead for those who used to read it and have already transitioned to digital. For digital natives, print is uncharted territory,” Carrasco asserts. “This generation is discovering print as a fresh medium, and our challenge is to make it relevant, immersive, and meaningful for them.”’
Carrasco, who has over two decades of experience in marketing, media, and communications, is known for launching and revitalizing influential media brands. As Chairman and CEO of AGC Power Holdings Corp., he leads an extensive portfolio that includes powerhouse titles such as MEGA, Lifestyle Asia, Bluprint, and The Business Manual, as well as international franchises including Nylon Manila, Robb Report, Allure, Billboard, Rolling Stone, and VMAN Southeast Asia.
Two years since its launch, Vogue Philippines for its part, has become the premiere lifestyle magazine in the country that highlights the beauty in Filipino art and culture, while lending a global platform to talented local artists and designers.
Devoted to deeply crafted storytelling, it also presents relevant and thoughtful stories that uplift, empower, and inspire. From tattoo master Apo Whang-Od to scientist Dr. Dolores Ramirez to social media star Bretman Rock, which further opened global conversations on inclusion and diversity.
“For digital natives, print represents a new kind of engagement—a tactile, immersive experience that offers depth in a world of fleeting digital interactions,” Carrasco observes. His commitment to evolving the publication ensures that Vogue Philippines, along with AGC’s other titles, continues to lead by redefining the role of print in a digital-first era.
Guided by his mission of “purpose over profit”, Carrasco is set to lead Vogue Philippines to become a dominant voice in the global fashion industry.
