Shell Pilipinas Concludes Shell Mekaniko League 2025 with Grand Celebration
More than just a competition, Shell Mekaniko League uplifts the livelihood of Filipino mechanics.
Shell Pilipinas Corporation celebrated a significant milestone with the conclusion of the Shell Mekaniko League 2025, held at Le Pavillon in Pasay City.
The event honored the skill, dedication, and resilience of Filipino mechanics–known locally as “mekanikos”–while reinforcing Shell’s commitment to uplifting livelihoods through training and recognition.
Honoring Craftsmanship and Community Impact
The Shell Mekaniko League is more than just a competition; it is a platform designed to elevate the profession of Filipino mechanics by providing access to industry-relevant training and long-term career opportunities.
“The Mekaniko League is one of Shell Pilipinas’ key programs that highlights the skills and dedication of Filipino mechanics,” said Jackie Famorca, Vice President and General Manager for Lubricants at Shell Pilipinas Corporation.
“Through our partnership with TESDA, we are equipping them with the right training and tools to help them adapt to the ever-evolving auto industry.”

Strategic Partnership With TESDA
Throughout the competition, participants underwent Shell-led training and TESDA-certified modules that prepared them for NC I and NC II certifications.
These certificates help strengthen their credibility, resulting in better job opportunities.
Additionally, such training programs help enhance their competencies to ensure that Shell customers receive safe and reliable service powered by Shell Helix and Shell Advance engine oils.
“Seeing the passion and dedication of our mechanics is inspiring. Programs like the Mekaniko League promote the growth of the auto industry in the country, and Shell has always been a reliable partner in this effort. That’s why TESDA fully supports initiatives like this that uplift and train Filipino talent,” said Brian Landicho, TESDA Competency Assessor for Small Engine Servicing NC2.

Rapid Expansion and Nationwide Reach
Launched in 2024 with just five regional runs, the Shell Mekaniko League rapidly evolved into a nationwide movement.
After only a year, it now boasts over 2,000 participants—car and motorcycle experts across 26 provinces in the country—who took part in Shell’s largest mechanic competition under one national platform.
Leading up to the Grand Finale, the League organized 20 Shell Advance Masters regional runs for motorcycle mechanics and six Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champion runs for car mechanics.
Semi-finalist mechanics were evaluated through written exams, parts identification, live repair challenges, and real-world simulations.
Winners at this stage received Php50,000 and advanced to the Grand Finale.
Celebrating National Champions
At the culminating event, Mark Anthony Calimag won the 2025 National Champion for the Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champion.
Meanwhile, Charlie Sandoval of Caloocan City earned the 2025 National Champion award for Shell Advance Masters.
Both champions received Php200,000 and an all-expense paid trip to Malaysia where they can witness MotoGP, the world’s premier two-wheel racing championship, along with the other Top 5 car mechanics and Top 3 motorcycle mechanics finalists.

Looking Ahead
Shell aims to expand the Shell Mekaniko League further, celebrating the world-class talent of Filipino mekanikos while deepening its engagement with local communities.
