Thai fiber cement manufacturer SHERA is progressing its production hub in the industrial center of Mabalacat, Pampanga. The company is investing PHP 2 billion in the plant.

The PHP 2 billion plant of Thai fiber cement manufacturer SHERA Public Company Limited in Pampanga is now 60% complete. The 250-hectare facility in Mabalacat, Pampanga, is the first SHERA production hub outside Thailand. Once operations start in January 2025, the plant will be capable of manufacturing up to 240,000 tons of fiber cement.

SHERA Chairman and Direcor Ongek Taechamahaphant, President and Philippine Country Head Thunnop Jumpasri, and other company senior leaders recently visited the site in Pampanga to monitor its construction progress.

When asked why the company chose the Philippines as its first plant outside Thailand, Jumpasri said, “The Philippines is among the Southeast Asian countries experiencing robust growth in its construction industry, which makes it an attractive location for the company. Apart from this, the Philippines is home to incredible talents. It would be a privilege to work with Filipinos and we are optimistic to open more job opportunities to the community.”

Jumpasri also talked about the company’s targets in the local market: “Our goal is to create 120 to 150 job opportunities once the plant is fully operational. Additionally, we aim to manufacture 100,000 metric tons of products while focusing on developing eco-friendly and sustainable construction materials. We will achieve this through the use of efficient production techniques and advanced green technologies. Our commitment is to contribute to a safe and healthy environment, fostering a harmonious and sustainable way of life for communities.”

Aside from manufacturing products for the Philippines, the Mabalacat facility will also export to Taiwan, South Korea, and some parts of North Asia, and Oceania Countries.

According to SHERA, its fiber cement products are eco-friendly because they are produced using solar energy in the manufacturing process and using recycled materials to reduce carbon emission. Additionally, fiber cement has a longer life span compared to other construction materials, helping reduce waste.

“We aim to consistently deliver top-quality materials with exceptional durability and a modern appearance while highlighting our commitment to environmentally friendly products. Our vision for the coming years is to establish ourselves as the leading company in the industry by utilizing cutting-edge technologies and innovative strategies. We plan to improve our products and services, optimize our operations, and broaden our customer base as well. If given the opportunity, we hope to expand our plant to help address the demand for reliable construction materials,” Jumpasri added.
