A Win for Women: This Startup Health Clinic is Set to Open More Clinics
The women’s health clinic is one of the nine Philippine companies that made it to Forbes Asia’s 100 to Watch List in the Biotechnology and Healthcare category.
Of the 100 companies that comprise Forbes Asia’s 100 to Watch List, only nine of them are from the Philippines. One of them—the women’s health clinic Kindred—has revealed its plans to expand beyond Metro Manila in the future.
“Our mission remains clear: we need to expand our reach, even outside of Metro Manila, and expand our impact while continually innovating for the women we serve,” says Kindred CEO Jessica de Mesa in an interview with ANC.
Kindred seeks to also create a safe space for women where they can discuss issues and ask questions about women’s health. The need to create this kind of space is due to the stigma society has on certain aspects of women’s health, which deters many women from seeking the right help and guidance they need.
As of press time, Kindred’s sole location is in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). According to de Mesa, there are already plans to begin their expansion by opening more locations within Metro Manila. Their next location is expected to open in Quezon City.
Forbes Asia’s 100 to Watch List
Founded in 2022, Kindred is a women’s health startup included in Forbes Asia’s 100 to Watch List under the Biotechnology & Healthcare category. According to Forbes, Kindred “provides virtual and in-person clinical consultations to women in the Philippines.”
“Patients can make appointments through Kindred’s website or app for specialties including gynecology, psychological health, fertility care, and vaccinations against sexually transmitted diseases,” it adds.
Why the Planned Expansion is Good News
While statistics show that around 20% of new businesses fail within their first year, this seems to not be the case for Kindred. As a matter of fact, its planned expansion outside Metro Manila signals growth and development for a very young company that was founded just last year.
This is also welcomed news to its target market—the women who’d like to avail of their healthcare services. Given that there are not many healthcare clinics that focus specifically on women’s health, the expansion of Kindred will mean furthering its reach in the market.
This will also mean that women’s healthcare services will become more accessible as more patients who are in need of their services can be catered to.
