Why Businesses Need to Fully Adapt to Cloud Migration

Alibaba Cloud spearheads the adoption of cloud migration by partnering with local businesses, providing them with solutions, and empowering their digital skills.

Technology continues to drive people towards a more-advanced economy filled with solutions. Among those that have been making waves in the tech industry is the rise of cloud computing technology to which 61% of businesses have migrated their workloads to. It is also believed that adoption continues to grow this year at around 94%.

Cloud computing technology is capable of storing and accessing data and programs over the internet, instead of having it on a hard drive. With this technology, users can access storage, files, software, and servers through interconnected online devices. This makes it easier for businesses to have more powerful software and IT infrastructure without the need to make large investments in equipment.

With that in mind, Alibaba Cloud hosted a roundtable event with some of its partners to share their key findings about the Philippine market and share their collective plans for cloud migration.

Cloud Migration in the Philippines

As the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, Alibaba Cloud offers a complete suite of cloud computing services. And just recently, they conducted a survey entitled “The Next-Generation Cloud Strategy in Asia,” where results showed that around 85% of Philippine businesses plan a full-scale cloud migration in two years, while more than nine in ten (91%) of them will increase their investment in the cloud in 2023.

The survey also showed that the surge of interest among local businesses is driven mainly by the rapid growth of the local data center market (78%) and the government’s steadfast plan for digitalization (79%). When it comes to selecting cloud vendors, security (85%), availability (74%), and expertise (62%) are the key factors considered by Philippine businesses.

As we anticipate a rise in cloud adoption, Alibaba Cloud is committed to offering innovative and proven cloud solutions and services to Philippine businesses,” said Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Country Manager for the Philippines Allen Guo.

So also we need to build more local partner networking two years [ahead],” he emphasized when asked about how local entrepreneurs adapt to cloud technology.

Nurturing IT Talent and Growing With Partners

Addressing the insufficient employee training issue that will hinder the progress of cloud adoption. This is the reason why they partnered with IT-focused educational institutions like Asia Pacific College. Moreover, they plan to train and strengthen the competency of teachers and students in terms of digital talent empowerment.

“The future landscape of cloud computing lies in the hands of the next generation, and as educators, it is our duty to foster and nurture their digital talents. Our recent collaboration with Alibaba Cloud has been instrumental in accelerating our mission to equip students with the essential tools to thrive in the current scenario, especially with the rising demand for cloud computing in local businesses,” stated Rhea-Luz Valbuena, the Executive Director of School of Computing and Information Technologies at the Asia Pacific College.
