Unstoppable Filipina Summit Celebrates and Advances the Role of Women in the New Economy

The one-day summit will end with the inaugural “Babae Awards,” which will honor outstanding women leaders in various fields. 

In time for International Women’s Day, the Women’s Business Council Philippines will hold its Unstoppable Filipina Summit on March 6. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mayuree Ballroom, Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City. 

This empowering summit celebrates the role of women as crucial drivers of growth and innovation. It likewise aims to be a pivotal occasion for collaboration, learning, and inspiration.

Jessica Soto-Vera, the co-founder of Las Mujeres Lideres in Peru, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address during the summit. Her address will focus on creating spaces for empowerment, drawing from her experiences in advocating for women’s rights and leadership in Latin America.

What to Expect

The Unstoppable Filipina Summit will hold a series of plenary sessions and panel discussions tackling a variety of topics. The panel on sustainability, for example, will feature J Angeline Tham of Angkas, Anna Lagon of Bayo, Katherine Custodio of WWF and Roberta Lopez-Feliciano of ABS-CBN Foundation. 

A vibrant discussion on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) will include Ice Seguerra, Tessa Prieto, and Angie King, who will offer strategies for creating more inclusive environments. Key male allies, JV De Dios of Manila Water, Hans “Chico” Sy Jr. of SM-EDD, and Al Panlilio of PLDT, will also feature in a discussion of the importance of male participation in advancing gender equality and supporting women in the workplace.

Last and certainly not the least, Filipina powerhouses, including Robina Gokongwei-Pe of Gokongwei Group, Myrna T. Yao of Richprime Global and Committee Chair of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), and Lorelie Quiambao-Osial of Shell Pilipinas, will also be present to share their experiences and insights on breaking barriers and achieving success.

Babae Awards

To cap off this empowering event, the Women’s Business Council Philippines will also hold its inaugural Babae Awards. The awarding ceremony aims to honor and celebrate outstanding women leaders in different fields. 

Hosted by Mr. Boy Abunda, the Babae Awards will honor exemplary women who have exhibited unwavering commitment to advocacy and service, demonstrated leadership that drives positive change, inspired empowerment, and contributed to nation-building.
