Huang is the fourth Filipino to be included in the prestigious list.

Anton Tantoco Huang, President and CEO of SSI Group, Inc., has been named to the Business of Fashion (BoF) 500 Class of 2025. Representing 40 nationalities across 30 countries, this year’s list recognizes global leaders, innovators, and changemakers shaping the fashion industry.

The BoF 500 is considered one of the fashion industry’s most respected indexes of influence. Launched in 2013 as a list recognizing the most influential figures in global fashion, the BoF 500 has since expanded into a community of 1,613 members representing 98 countries.

Huang is the fourth Filipino to be included in the BoF 500, alongside Stephen Gan, founder of V Magazine; Bryan Grey Yambao (Bryanboy), a pioneering fashion blogger and content creator; and Mark “Jappy” Gonzalez, founder of H&F Retail Concepts.

In 1994, Huang became the Executive Vice President of Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI), which at the time managed only three brands in its portfolio. The company has grown under his management into the Philippines’ largest specialty retailer of international brands, representing nearly 100 global names and operating more than 500 stores nationwide.

Its portfolio includes luxury brands Burberry, Hermes, Ferragamo, and Cartier, among others. SSI is likewise responsible for bringing fast fashion brands Zara, Bershka, and Stradivarius to the country, as well as other retail concepts such as Muji, Payless Shoe Source, and Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

SSI Group has also expanded into the restaurant sector, introducing international dining concepts such as SaladStop!, HeyBo, and Shake Shack to the Philippine market.

Huang led the development of Trunc.ph, SSI’s multi-brand e-commerce platform launched in 2020, which has since become central to its omnichannel retail strategy. In 2023, SSI reported a net income exceeding Php1 billion, more than double from the previous year, driven by stronger top-line growth, improved margins, and operational efficiencies. The company also posted Php25.2 billion in consolidated revenues, up 22% year on year.

Huang formally assumed leadership of SSI Group in 2024, succeeding his late mother, Zenaida “Nedy” Tantoco.

In March 2025, SSI finalized the majority acquisition of Rustan Marketing Corporation, consolidating two of the country’s key retail and distribution businesses.

Beyond his corporate role, Huang is a founding member of the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment and has been recognized internationally for his contributions to fashion and commerce. He was awarded France’s Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 2015 and Italy’s Cavaliere dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana in 2017.
