LOOK: Online Market Launches for Toy Collectors and Sneakerheads

Toki, an online marketplace that was made with collectors in mind, sells over 100,000 authentic collectibles, including sneakers, Funkos, and art toys.

Toki, an online marketplace selling sneakers and collectibles, has launched. Funkos, art toys, rare Lego sets and sneakers are just the beginning.

It can be hard being a collector in the Philippines. Online marketplaces are often awash with fake sneakers and collectibles, and the adage “Buyer beware” holds true. Enter Toki, an online marketplace that was made with collectors in mind. Toki’s platform sells over 100,000 authentic collectibles, including sneakers, Funkos, Lego sets, and art toys.

Toki, which was launched in 2023, was built to address the pain points of every collector. It aims to redefine the marketplace with safe and secure transactions. And, what’s more, it’s not just a marketplace but also a community for collectors, with live selling and auctions.

Toki, an online marketplace made for collectors in mind, launches with a platform that sells authentic collectibles such as sneakers, Funkos, and toys.

Since its launch, Toki has grown rapidly. Its user base has grown to over 70,000 users; it has authenticated over 100,000 collectives (35,000 of which are sneakers); and it has hosted more than 500 auctions.

Frederic Levy, Toki’s CEO and Co-founder, has been thrilled by the community’s response to Toki. He said, “Our goal has always been to create a trusted and engaging platform where collectors can connect, transact, and share their passion. The rapid growth and positive feedback we’ve received reaffirm our commitment to continuously improve and expand our offerings to meet the evolving needs of our users.”

If you’re a collector, here are three reasons why you should check out Toki.

1. 100,000 authentic collectibles

Goodbye fakes. At Toki, all available collectibles are authenticated by a team of knowledgeable collectors. The platform claims that “every seller is vouched for, all sold items are verified, and all transactions are guaranteed.”

Currently, there are over 100,000 certified authentic collectibles on the platform. While this is a modest number, Toki has plans for onboarding more sellers. It is also expanding its collectible offerings beyond sneakers and toys to authenticated K-Pop merchandise and more.

2. It’s a hub for collectors

Toki isn’t just an online marketplace; it’s also a hub for collectors. Aside from live selling and auctions, it also participates in events.

One such event was this year’s TOYCON, held last June 14 to 16 at SMX. “During this event, we were thrilled to see how Toki has rapidly become a central hub for all collectors in just six short months,” Frederic Levy said. “As Toki continues to grow as the leading marketplace for collectors, we are beyond excited to amplify the energy at TOYCON next year and in the years to come.”

The company also participated in the much sought-after Jollibee X Quiccs collaboration, and “Beyond the Block” at Ronac Lifestyle Center in Magallanes, Makati.

3. For Collectors, By Collectors

The team behind Toki are experienced in providing digital solutions. Its co-founders–Frederic Levy, Zoe Ocampo, and Jules Jurado–are former GCash executives, aside from being avid collectors themselves.

How does this make a difference? “As collectors, it’s crucial for us to have confidence in the sellers we engage with on the platform,” Zoe Ocampo, Toki’s Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, explained. “As we onboard new sellers, we prioritize expanding into new categories where our trusted sellers can immediately begin listing their unique offerings. This approach not only enriches our community’s experience but also ensures we maintain the highest standards of quality and authenticity.”

Knowing how collectors often want to see the merchandise physically, the team at Toki revealed plans for putting up retail locations, providing a full O2O (online-to-offline) experience for users.

In conclusion Levy summarized,  “Beyond revolutionizing the collectors’ journey, Toki is carving a path where each item tells a story, and every transaction fosters a deeper connection within our vibrant community. Our journey from being digital-first to blending physical presence marks the next chapter in redefining how collectors can enjoy their passion, both online and offline.”
