This Ride-Hailing App is Testing an Option to Hire Your Own Driver

The new service is still in beta, which means only app users from Metro Manila can hire a driver in the meantime.

Grab, the ride-hailing app that has contributed up to 0.3% to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) from 2019 to 2021, has announced that it is testing a service that lets users hire a driver for 12 hours.

The new service is known as Grab DriveYourCar, and it allows users to hire drivers for a fixed price to drive their cars. According to a report by the Philippine Star, hiring a driver for four hours will cost PHP 890, while eight hours will cost PHP 1,490. Those who want to hire a driver for 12 hours will have to pay PHP 1,990.

It should be noted that these fixed rates do not include gas, parking, and toll fees. Anyone who cancels a booking two hours upon booking will receive a fine of PHP 200.

The service is still in beta mode, which means it is limited to Metro Manila users for the time being.

Vetted Pool of Grab Drivers

All drivers who are part of the DriveYourCar pool are vetted by Grab. This guarantees that all drivers part of the service have the proper training and licenses needed for professional driving.

Every booking made under the new service is likewise insured with an accidental benefit, per the Philippine Star report. Users are allowed to schedule bookings up to one day prior to the trip.
