Among those honored at the PH-ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards are 10 hall of famer awardees.

Believe it or not, despite challenges faced by the tourism industry, the Philippines managed to exceed its 2023 target for international tourist arrivals. By November 27, 4,822,530 million international tourists had entered the country. The target for 2023 was 4.8 million. This success can be attributed to the tourism service providers who work tirelessly even while tackling difficulties from pandemic recovery. 35 of these service providers were recently honored by the Department of Tourism (DOT) at the PH-ASEAN Tourism Standards Awards.

ASEAN Green Hotel Award Hall of Fame

Seven establishments were awarded the ASEAN Green Hotel Award Hall of Fame. These establishments are honored for their commitment to sustainable tourism, according to a report

The seven Hall of Fame awardees are as follows:

  • Amarela Resort
  • Amorita
  • Baguio Country Club
  • The Bellevue Resort
  • Conrad Manila
  • Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort
  • The Manor at Camp Joy Hay

Other Hall of Fame Awardees

The DOT also honored other establishments with Hall of Fame awards. Aside from being named an ASEAN Green Hotel Award Hall of Famer, the Conrad Manila and Baguio Country Club was also honored as ASEAN MICE Venue Award Hall of Fame. This recognition was specifically given to Conrad Manila’s Forbes Ballroom and Baguio Country Club’s William Cameron Forbes Ballroom.

Last and certainly not the least, the Palaui Environmental Protectors Association received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Hall of Fame Award. The award was given due to their “dedication to sustainable livelihoods and the preservation of socio-cultural and natural heritage resources,” according to the report.

Key Takeaways

The tourism industry was one of the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the awards received by these establishments are a positive sign of the industry’s recovery. Receiving such recognition will help motivate not just the establishments that received them, but also the industry as a whole to continue providing good service to tourists.

These awards can also serve as an inspiration to other tourism service providers to improve their work so that they too can be awarded one day.
