LOOK: This Construction Expert Launched a Technologically Advanced Homebuilding Platform

Former construction company CEO Jose Paolo Calma introduces a new homebuilding platform called Homeqube, which uses blockchain and AI technology.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more popular around the world—even in the Philippines, where it is projected to grow by 20.17% from 2023 to 2030. In fact, this new technology is also seen as a possible contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Given that AI use in the country is not limited to websites, as it is also being incorporated into various industries as well, even businesses have taken to using this new piece of technology. This includes the construction industry since it continues to thrive in the country.

With the construction market being valued at $59.5 billion (around PHP 3.24 trillion) in 2022 and numbers forecasting this to continuously grow, former CEO of Multi-Development and Construction Corporation (MDCC) Jose Paolo “JP” Calma launched a new platform called Homeqube, which aims to allow users to enjoy more ease in designing their homes.

Addressing a Pain Point

Calma came up with the idea of this platform based on the fact that he belonged to a pedigree of famed Filipino architects and contractors. With an innate expertise in system architecture and interior construction, he developed a decentralized online platform that makes homebuilding easier and much more accessible.

“Homeqube is designed to solve persistent problems within the industry, such as long lead times, staggering inefficiencies in the design process, the overreliance on human labor, unsustainable raw materials, and not to mention the huge gap between e-commerce and the sector,” he says.

The platform—powered by AI and blockchain technology—gives users access to a network filled with architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) experts and manufacturing agents on Web3, a new kind of technology that gives users the freedom to build, operate, and own their assets.

How Homeqube Works

The platform features user-centric controls called “knobs,” which combine designs that can be created via basic system parts. These knobs will then help users customize the designs—depending on their desired price ranges, lifestyle, and mobile metrics.

What’s more, Homeqube’s program includes optical character recognition (OCR) that helps with area plotting, agile designing, and processing of documents. It also has a QUBE token and gamification approach that allows users can earn tokens for every accepted design, from game challenges, or even for selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

And since there are NFTs on the platform, Homeqube includes a Solana-based launchpad and an NFT marketplace that accepts a wide array of 3D printing files—including parametric data and generative art.

The Impact on Businesses and Industry Professionals

According to Palma, they are aiming to revolutionize the industry by introducing innovative approaches that can be interactive. “Drawing on the principles of strategic information architecture and the power of peer collaboration, Homeqube revolutionizes the industry,” the Homeqube CEO explains.

“There’s no need for traditional e-commerce ‘add to cart’ processes. With our platform, we introduce an innovative approach where commercial satisfaction can be achieved through engaging and interactive experiences. We’re also paving the way for seamless fiat ramping,” he adds.

By being a platform for enhancing the construction industry, professionals can start their own businesses and likewise enrich their skills. It will also take construction to the next level as it starts to incorporate modern technology with stable industries in the country.

“The platform serves as a hub for industry professionals, from manufacturers and engineers to interior designers and plumbers, where they can enrich their practices or kickstart their businesses,” he ends. “Homeqube promotes fast, quality, sustainable homebuilding processes, demystifying residential construction and promoting innovation, speed to market, participation in the digital economy, and forming an empowered community of homebuilders.”
