85% of Filipinos Are Either Happy or Neutral About Their Jobs: Survey

Before the pandemic, only 68% of Filipino talent said they were either happy or neutral about their jobs, according to a job satisfaction survey.

Over 900 respondents surveyed by Jobstreet by SEEK for its Employee Job Happiness Index 2024, which showed a significant shift in job satisfaction. The survey revealed that 85% of Filipinos are either happy or neutral about their jobs.

The respondents come from various industries and specializations nationwide. They were asked about their overall job satisfaction, as well as their experiences in their respective companies.

According to the results of the study, the following factors attribute to the respondents’ job satisfaction:

  • Inclusive work setup
  • Work mobility
  • Work-life balance

WFH Setup, Being Married Makes Filipino Talent Happier

The Employee Job Happiness Index 2024 shows that those who have a work-from-home setup have better job satisfaction scores. Employees who are fully working remotely scored 4.82 out of 7 in the Happiness Index Score with 7 being the most positive.

Work-from-home employees also had a higher satisfaction when it comes to work-life balance, scoring 4.92. In addition, the study also shows that married or partnered have higher levels of job satisfaction, scoring 4.60. Single employees, on the other hand, scored 4.46.

Gen Zs Show the Least Job Satisfaction

When it comes to different age groups, those who belong to Gen Z are the least likely to be satisfied with their current jobs, with those between the ages 23 to 27 scoring a 4.28.

A global talent insight report released last year by employer branding agency Universum listed what Gen Zs want from their employers in order to remain happy and satisfied in the workforce. Among their preferences include having a friendly and flexible work environment, work-life balance, and a PHP 370,000+ annual salary.

How to Keep Employees Happy

The Employe Job Happiness Index 2024 shows that Filipino employees are ultimately happier in their jobs they are given the following:

  • Appropriate work arrangement
  • Opportunity to develop
  • Opportunity for promotion

Employers should keep these in mind in order to keep employers happy, which will allow companies to retain their talent and avoid resignations related to job dissatisfaction. Aside from those listed above, employers should also note that a fair salary as well as verticality can also help keep employees happy.
