The deal marks the third time that property developer AppleOne Properties, Inc. partnered with Marriott International.

With 31 brands and more than 8,500 properties around the world, Marriott International is looking to add to its impressive roster of properties. The company has signed a deal with Cebu-based property developer AppleOne Properties, Inc. to build a new hotel in Panglao, Bohol.

The planned hotel will be called JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort & Spa. The hotel will be Panglao’s first five-star hotel.

According to AppleOne Properties, “JW Marriott is part of Marriott International’s luxury portfolio and consists of award-winning properties and beautiful resort locations around the world.”

“The province boasts of endless nature-charged experiences in the tropical island life from chasing waterfalls, soaking in cave pools, swimming next to aquatic creatures, to getting lost in the beauty of the Chocolate Hills,” it adds.

Banking on the Recovery of Tourism

AppleOne President and CEO Ray Go Manigsaca said in an emailed statement to a local publication that “Surviving the worst effects of the pandemic, people are now eager to make up for the lost time and travel, and we intend to bank on that.”

“We want to entice them more by bringing the luxury experience to the regions starting with Bohol, which we believe they will enjoy even more because of the experiences and tourist destinations,” he explained.

How the New Hotel Can Create New Opportunities in Panglao

According to Travel Weekly Asia, Panglao welcomed 357,000 tourists in 2022 and is projected to welcome 700,000 this year. The plan to build JW Marriott Panglao Island Resort & Spa in Bohol will undoubtedly boost the town’s tourism, especially as it will entice tourists who are looking for more premium and luxurious accommodations during their stay.

An increase in tourists will entice many entrepreneurs in Panglao to either start new businesses or grow their existing ones in order to cater to the demand of tourists. Moreover, the new hotel will provide employment opportunities for the locals who are interested in working in the hospitality industry.
