MMGI to Launch Philippine Edition of Iconic Magazine Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone, the award-winning global authority on music, politics, and culture, is launching its Philippine edition in partnership with MMGI.

The iconic magazine and global culture authority Rolling Stone is set to make waves in the country with the launch of its Philippine edition in November 2024.

Modern Media Group Inc. (MMGI) forged a licensing agreement with Rolling Stone to publish Rolling Stone Philippines and help deliver on the magazine’s vision of delivering cutting-edge music journalism and sociocultural commentary to a wider global audience. MMGI adds Rolling Stone to its brand roster, which includes NYLON Manila and Billboard Philippines.

Five decades since its founding, Rolling Stone has evolved into a multi-platform content brand with unrivaled access and authority. Published in 10 languages, Rolling Stone has a global audience of over 75 million across 14 international editions, including those in the USA, the UK and Australia, among others.

According to Penske Media Corporation, which operates and publishes the brand, Rolling Stone has a global reach of 28 million and a social media presence of 21 million followers.

“We are thrilled to introduce Rolling Stone in the Philippines, a nation with a rich musical heritage and a vibrant cultural scene,” said Anne Bernisca, COO of MMGI. “Our goal is to maintain the magazine’s tradition reflecting global standards while also exploring fresh perspectives and voices of the Filipino. This expansion is a testament to our dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive media environment where all stories can be told.”

Rolling Stone Philippines will provide readers with comprehensive coverage of music, entertainment, social, and pop culture, featuring exclusive interviews, in-depth articles, and remarkable photography. It will highlight global and Filipino artists, offering a unique perspective on the music industry and sociocultural trends. The Philippine edition will feature a mix of globally recognized content and locally relevant stories curated through the lens of the Filipino experience.

“The launch of Rolling Stone Philippines represents a significant step in our efforts to bring the magazine’s iconic voice to new markets,” said Gus Wenner, CEO of Rolling Stone. “We look forward to working with Modern Media Group to deliver content that is both locally relevant and globally engaging.”

“Rolling Stone has been a beacon of social, cultural, and musical commentary for over five decades. We’re excited to see how our audience will engage with Rolling Stone’s rich heritage and forward-thinking content. We are committed to preserving the magazine’s legacy while also embracing the unique cultural landscapes of the Philippines,” said Archie G. “This expansion is more than just a growth strategy; it’s an opportunity to amplify diverse voices and stories that matter. We are committed to upholding the values of integrity, creativity, and passion that Rolling Stone stands for, and we look forward to this new chapter in our journey,” Bernisca remarked.
