Launching Soon: The First Sustainable Experience Center in the Philippines
Battery company Gogoro Philippines is set to launch the Gogoro Experience Center (GEC), which aims to provide Filipinos with a better perspective on smart electric mobility.
According to Statista, there are over a thousand vehicles that have been sold in the Philippines, signifying a continuous increase since 2020. Given that the batteries that power these vehicles eventually need to be changed after some time, this can lead to accumulated waste—which proves to be detrimental to the environment.
This is where businesses like Gogoro come in.
Established in 2011, Gogoro is a Taiwanese company that was founded by Horace Luke. With the goal of “leveraging innovation to introduce sustainable energy and transportation to the masses in the world’s cities,” the company was created in order to promote cleaner transportation options.
What is Gogoro?
“We’re revolutionizing the way that we use and share energy by re-imagining what fuel can be for millions of two-wheelers around the world,” the company website reads. “Our mission is to put smart, portable electric power within reach of every urban rider in the world.”
With more battery-swapping stations than traditional gas stations in Taiwanese cities, the Gogoro Network has become an integral part of the urban landscape. Supporting nearly 550,000 riders and boasting over 1.1 million smart batteries in circulation, the network has achieved more than 480 million total battery swaps—thus saving over 680,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
Given how successful the event turned out in Taiwan, Gogoro has teamed up with Globe Group as part of their first foray into climate tech. Through this partnership, the two companies will be working to promote eco-friendly transportation in the country—all while launching the Gogoro Experience Center for people to see.
What to Expect at the Gogoro Experience Center
The Gogoro Experience Center (GEC) will be located on the second floor of Greenbelt 4, Makati Avenue, Ayala Center. Its launch on November 7 makes it the first retail space in the country that promises an immersive preview of the future of smart electric mobility.
The launch of GEC will also mark a significant milestone for the company before it starts its commercial operations here. When they start doing so, consumers will have access to Gogoro Smartscooters, as well as battery-swapping stations that let them recharge said scooters.
“We are very excited to open our first retail space in the Philippines as we gear up to roll out Gogoro in Metro Manila. As we count the days down to the grand opening of our Gogoro Experience Center, we are getting ready to welcome visitors and to give them an unforgettable taste of the future of transport,” said Bernie Llamzon, the Gogoro Philippines president.
How Gogoro Found its Way to the Philippines
This groundbreaking initiative is a joint venture between Globe Group’s 917Ventures Inc., Ayala Corporation, and Taiwan’s Gogoro, which culminated in the establishment of Gogoro Philippines. Together, they targeted to bring world-class technology to the country to pave the way for cleaner transportation.
Even during the beginning stages of the brand’s introduction in the Philippines, the Taiwanese company already held a pilot test of Gogoro Smartscooters among Globe employees. Once they’ve officially launched at The Globe Tower in Taguig City, the company aims to open more GoStations.
Through this initiative, Filipinos are given more cost-effective modes of transportation that promise to reduce carbon emissions in the country. And given how 72% of Filipinos struggle to commute to work, this can also benefit employees and business owners who are looking for eco-friendly transportation solutions.
