These Finance App Founders Join the Endeavor Entrepreneurs
Currently, Endeavor supports a total of 2,589 entrepreneurs leading 1,585 companies around the world.
Endeavor, a global community of, by, and for high-impact entrepreneurs, has announced its selection of 14 new Endeavor Entrepreneurs. The founders of local consumer finance app BillEase are among the chosen.
BillEase’s Georg Steiger, Ritche Weekun, and Huyen Nguyen were selected during the 45th Virtual International Selection Panel (ISP). The panel was held on April 24 to 26, 2024.
“Each ISP is the culmination of a rigorous, multi-step selection process to identify high-impact entrepreneurs from all over the world,” Endeavor said. “We seek founders with the greatest growth potential, as well as those who commit to reinvesting time and resources into their local entrepreneurial ecosystems to help build the next generation of entrepreneurs, sparking a Multiplier Effect.”
‘The Team Behind BillEase is Excellent’
Founded in 2015, BillEase provides its customers with both on-demand credit and buy now, pay later products through its easy-to-use app. Its founders met while working at management consulting firm McKinsey in Singapore.
Seeing the approximately $50 billion (approximately PHP 2.88 trillion) middle class retail credit gap, they seek to address this issue and introduce a new innovation in the Philippine fintech infrastructure through BillEase.
“The team behind BillEase is excellent, with seasoned McKinsey veterans at the helm who are very experienced with this type of work within the region,” Endeavor remarked.
Since its founding, BillEase has partnered with more than 10,000 leading merchants, payment gateways, and shopping carts. This includes Lazada, Shopify, Agoda, and Xendit. In mid-2022, the company disbursed more than 500,000 loans to more than 230,000 customers per month. BillEase has raised over $50M to date, including $40M in debt financing and an $11M Series B in early 2022.
The Selection Process
The founders of BillEase were selected during the ISP following an interview with the panelists. The panelists included Valeria Alberola, former ZOMALAB (Endeavor Colorado Board Member); Shailesh Rao, EscapeVelocity; Luca Bavone, Habyt (Endeavor Entrepreneur); and Steve Kessel, former Amazon.
The entrepreneurs were asked about their businesses and their potential for high-impact growth. Once all interviews were conducted, the panelists then held a discussion, followed by a vote that determined their selection as Endeavor Entrepreneurs.
A global non-profit group, Endeavor seeks to support entrepreneurs around the world who have created high-impact businesses. Endeavor Entrepreneurs have access to Endeavor’s global network of business leaders, who will guide them as they scale up their businesses.
Previously selected Endeavor Entrepreneurs from the Philippines include Lay Bare founder Juan Paolo Hilario, Zark’s Burger founder Rolandrei Viktor “Zark” Varona, and Miguel “Mikko” Perez, founder of fintech startup Ayannah.
