The Passion, Purpose and Innovation that Drive Jamila Aesthetics

There’s a new kind of aesthetics clinic emerging: one that believes luxury can be affordable and beauty belongs to all. In this exclusive feature, Jamila Paz of Jamila Aesthetics shares her entrepreneurial mission.

Jamila Aesthetics, the beauty clinic established by entrepreneur Jamila Paz, believes that beauty should be accessible for everyone. It proudly proclaims “I am Jamila” in its marketing efforts, as “jamila” is the Arabic word for beauty. The fast-growing chain of clinics is part of a new breed of aesthetics clinics that is emerging in the country–one that is focused on providing affordable luxury to all, regardless of their age, gender or background.

Leading Jamila Aesthetics in this mission is entrepreneur Jamila Paz. The Business Manual spoke to Paz about how this mission drives her business in the rapidly growing aesthetics industry

Entrepreneurial Beginnings

Jamila Aesthetics opened its first branch along Marcos Highway in 2019, and swiftly followed up with branches in Urdaneta and Mandaluyong in 2022 and 2023. Jamila Paz also founded MANIFEST Wellness Lounge in 2022 and URUS Wellness Hub. But prior to establishing her beauty and wellness clinics, Jamila Paz was the entrepreneur behind the clothing line Jamila Manila, which she began in 2014.

Speaking about her entrepreneurial beginnings, Paz says, “My father instilled in me early on that financial freedom often means creating something of your own, and that lesson has stuck with me throughout my journey.”

With her past experience in entrepreneurship, Jamila Paz has the awareness that a business can transcend financial realities and become a venue to develop community and culture. Her goal for Jamila Aesthetics, she says, is “about setting standards in an industry that’s often seen as exclusive.” She continues, saying, “I want to redefine that notion by providing luxury that’s within reach while maintaining authenticity and quality in every aspect of our clinic.”

Affordable Luxury + Purpose + Innovation

In a booming aesthetics industry, Jamila Paz found success with Jamila Aesthetics. But she credits three things for her competitive edge.

She shares, “At the heart of it, I’d say it’s a combination of our commitment to affordable luxury, authentic customer care, and an unwavering focus on quality and safety.”

Affordable Luxury

The market is at the very center of Jamila Aesthetics’ affordable luxury push. With Filipinos of all ages hungry for beauty services, a growing middle class with greater disposable income, and lower costs for aesthetic devices, it’s now possible for clinics like Jamila’s to give the market what it wants. And, clearly, what it wants are services that were once deemed to be out of their reach.

“Our strategy to make luxury affordable for everyone has been a major driver,” Paz explains. “We’ve worked hard to create a space where high-quality aesthetics services are accessible, without sacrificing excellence. This has really resonated with clients who want the best but also appreciate value. It’s part of our brand DNA and sets us apart in an industry that can sometimes feel exclusive or unapproachable.”

Passion and Purpose

Paz’s mission which she began when she founded Jamila Aesthetics continues to drive their work at the clinic.

She says, “My driving force is the desire to empower people, helping them look and feel their best in a way that truly reflects who they are. Beauty should be accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, background, or age.”

This translates to the highest levels of personal service and care. “Our clients know they’re in safe, empathetic hands, and that’s a trust we never take for granted,” Paz says.

Innovation

Finally, technology plays a role in the success of Jamila Aesthetics. With all the advances in medical aesthetics, new products and procedures are constantly being developed and brought to market. One such technology is Ultherapy.

“Ultherapy has truly been a game-changer for Jamila Aesthetics,” Paz shares, “both in terms of the results it provides for clients and in establishing us as a leader in non-invasive aesthetics.”

Ultherapy is a cutting-edge treatment that uses micro-focused ultrasound to stimulate collagen production deep within the skin, achieving lifting and tightening without surgery.

“Ultherapy has not only elevated our service offerings,” Paz continues, “but also strengthened our reputation for excellence, safety, and innovation in the field of aesthetics.”

Even with all the innovation, Paz emphasizes that the business remains focused on service and safety. She says, “We constantly stay updated with the latest advancements to offer cutting-edge treatments, like Ultherapy… But while the tech is important, it’s only as effective as the skill, training, and empathy behind it.”

Facing Challenges

Jamila Aesthetics is currently riding a wave of growth in a booming industry, but, like any startup business, it faces many challenges.

In fact, one of the first challenges Jamila Paz faced happened shortly after building her first clinic: the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paz recounts, “Our first clinic was based in Cainta, and strict protocols forced us to close for over six months. It was a huge blow for a new business, especially since we had invested so much into setting up and hadn’t yet had the chance to establish ourselves. Suddenly, we found ourselves in survival mode before we could even properly begin.”

Instead of giving up and cutting her losses, she used the lockdown as a time to re-focus. “During that downtime,” she says, “I focused on strengthening our foundation. I reviewed our processes, invested in additional training for our team, and made sure we could reopen with the highest safety standards. Those months taught us resilience and adaptability.”

The Next Level

What’s next for Jamila Paz?

“I still feel there’s more to accomplish,” the entrepreneur says. “I see Jamila Aesthetics expanding further, reaching new communities across the Philippines. My vision is for us to become a Luzon-wide if not nationwide brand known for quality, inclusivity, and trust, all while continuing to innovate in our treatments and technology. There’s always a next level to reach, and that’s what keeps me driven.”

An entrepreneur at heart, Jamila Paz has found more than success with her aesthetics clinic. She has found fulfillment.

She shares, “Entrepreneurship has always been a big part of who I am. My journey has spanned different ventures, but it was with Jamila Aesthetics that I felt a unique fulfillment. When clients began returning and referring others, I saw that our commitment to affordable luxury and authentic care was making a real impact.”

This impact has gone beyond her business to develop her industry and her community. To other entrepreneurs establishing their own startups, she offers sage advice.

“Building a business is challenging,” she says, “and there will be setbacks, but if you’re clear on your purpose and committed to quality and integrity, you’ll find a way to navigate through.

“Surround yourself with a team that shares your passion and drive, as a strong foundation is essential. And remember, resilience is key. Challenges are inevitable, but they’re opportunities to learn and grow. Keep pushing forward, believe in yourself, and remember that success is a journey, not a destination.”
